Last Attack on Titan Episode to Screen in Japanese Theaters

The official website for the Attack on Titan anime announced last week that the series' final episode will premiere at the Marunouchi Picadilly 1 theater in Tokyo during a special event on September 28. Director Tetsuro Araki, producer Tetsuya Kinoshita, animation producer Tetsuya Nakatake, manga editor Shinataro Kawakubo, and voice actors Yuuki Kaji (Eren), Yui Ishikawa (Mikasa), and Marina Inoue (Armin) will attend the event for a discussion.

The event itself will be streamed live to 15 more theaters throughout Japan. It will start at 9:00 p.m. — a few hours before the episode premieres on television.

Attack on Titan Spawns Another Series in Shōnen Sirius Magazine

The insert included with the 11th volume of Hajime Isayama's Attack on Titan manga is announcing this week that the story is spawning another series in Kodansha's Monthly Shōnen Sirius magazine. "Another story" in the Attack on Titan world will begin in the October issue of Monthly Shōnen Sirius on August 26.

The wraparound jacket band on the 11th manga volume notes that the original series has over 23 million copies in print. The volume's insert also announced that Spike Chunsoft is developing a Nintendo 3DS game for release this year.

Isayama's original manga depicts the battles between humans and the giants who now rule the world outside humans' walled enclaves. Isayama launched the series in Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine in 2009. The manga has become a sleeper hit, and Kodansha USA is publishing it in North America.

Both Funimation and Crunchyroll are streaming the ongoing anime version as it airs in Japan, and a live-action film version is slated for next year.

Attack on Titan Gets 3DS Game from Spike Chunsoft in 2013

The wraparound jacket band and insert included with the 11th volume of Hajime Isayama's Attack on Titan manga is announcing this week that a Nintendo 3DS game has been green-lit for this year. Spike Chunsoft is developing the game. More details will be in the October issue of Kodansha's Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine on September 9.

Strategy & Partners is developing a separate browser game for personal computers, and it already launched a social game, Shingeki no Kyojin -Hangeki no Tsubasa- (Attack on Titan: The Wings of Counterattack), on the GREE mobile platform. The manga's official Twitter account had revealed in April that a console or portable video game was planned, and producer George Wada had said that it was planned for next year.
