Asphalt 8: Airborne is now available on iOS and Android

Gameloft’s next big release in the Asphalt series of racing games – Asphalt 8: Airborne – has finally been released on the App Store and Google Play and a Windows Phone 8 version is on the way.

As you can guess from the name, Asphalt 8: Airborne takes action on the ground and into the air. You will still be driving around as in the previous games but now you’ll jump off ramps and pulling off stunts in the air. Think of it as Riptide GP on wheels. As usual for Asphalt games, Gameloft has once again formed an impressive roster of cars from top manufacturers such as Lamborghini, Bugatti, Ferrari and Zonda. There are now 47 cars to choose from with improved engine sound for more realism.

Asphalt 8: Airborne has nine tracks to choose from locations around the world such as Venice, French Guiana, Iceland, the Nevada Desert and play in 8 seasons and 180 events in the Career mode. There is also a multiplayer mode where you can play against up to 8 opponents simultaneously.

Asphalt 8: Airborne is priced at $0.99 with in-app purchases.

Microsoft's CEO Steve Ballmer stepping down within a year

Steve Ballmer announced yesterday his departure from Microsoft after 13 years (medium) loyal service. The inventory will exercise very quickly and take the lead story, the future ex-CEO said that for him was his biggest regret.

The Seattle Times scored interviews with Ballmer and Thompson, revealing a couple of tidbits. First, Thompson notes that the CEO will, indeed, have some input on choosing his successor. In fully reflective mode, Ballmer (not shockingly, perhaps) admits that Vista was his biggest disappointment during his tenure. He also added that he plans to stay in Seattle post-retirement, so that tropical island paradise will have to wait. Also, as plenty have noted before us, the Wall Street reaction to news has been been initially fairly positive, so read into that what you will.

The Microsoft Action earns 8% after the announcement

Don Mattrick, Ballmer ... who's next?

Killzone Games Inspire Manga: Kamome Mukojima to draw original story about new ISA mercenary character

Here's a manga that should be taken with a bit of care! don't you think?

The October issue of Kadokawa Shoten's Monthly Shōnen Ace magazine will publish a one-shot manga for Sony Computer Entertainment and Guerrilla Cambridge's Killzone video game franchise on August 26. The Killzone manga featuring new characters and an original story will mark the first time the franchise is getting a manga adaptation. Illustrator and manga artist Kamome Mukojima (Grave Digger) will draw the manga.

The manga short will take place on the planet Vekta, where the ISA and Helghast have been fighting a very long war. The ISA mercenary Ross and his partner Huey meet Chajans, the sole survivor of an ISA platoon that was wiped out by the Helghast. When Ross hears of the destruction of Chajans' platoon, he decides to carry out the platoon's mission of protecting a target himself, in order to get a reward.

Kadokawa Shoten is publishing the one-shot to coincide with the Japanese release of the Killzone: Mercenary PlayStation Vita game, which is slated to ship in Japan on September 5. The game is slated to ship in Europe on September 4 and in the United States on September 10.

The Killzone first-person and third-person shooter franchise consists of Killzone for the PS2, Killzone 2 and Killzone 3 for the PS3, Killzone: Liberation for the PSP, and Killzone: Mercenary for the PS Vita. Sony and Guerilla Cambridge will release the Killzone: Shadow Fall game for the PS4 later this year.
